Fall Decorating

Over the weekend I finally got around to putting up my fall decor.  It's not all up however I got the main areas done...the diningroom and front door.

Here's the diningroom:

I wanted to do something different on the table as far as using a table runner.  I'm so tired of the regular cloth runners. At first I was just going to stack three baskets and fill them with pumpkins, gourds, faux leaves and grass but then I thought of the cost of putting that together (maybe next year). Then one day while browing on Pinterest I found an interesting table runner made out of felt, leaf-shape table mats.  It was so pretty and the pinner used mats from my favorite store, Dollar Tree.  Well when I got to Dollar Tree they were all gone.  So I thought, "There goes that idea."

Then this past Saturday I was in a Big Lots that was closing down and found glittered, felt table mats for $1.40 each.   I bought 5 and they look so nice on the table.  The pinner from Pinterest hot glued the ends together, but I decided not to do that in case I want to use them another way next year.

The first photo is the way I originally wanted to lay them out, but after sharing my choices with my girlfriends, it was decided the second photo was the better choice.

Then there's outside my front door,..

Wish my door was a different color.  I thought about adding garland around the door but I think it would be over-kill.  Also I feel like something is missing from the wagon.  Can't quite put my finger on it.

My livingroom is also done but I still have the totes in there as well as a bench that I need to take to the dumpster.  Hopefully by the weeks end I can show you that area.  I still have the bathroom and kitchen to finish then I can post pics of those rooms too.

8 Days to Fall

sweater weather.... From imgfave.com What a beautiful weekend it has been.  Warm days - cool nights.  No AC needed.  Just opened windows allowing the fresh air to flow through my little palace.  I simply love this weather!

This morning I slept in because my bed was so warm and cozy and the air was so cool.  When I finally got up and got myself together, I had a nice breakfast then wrapped myself up with my blanket, lounged on the sofa and watch some football.  I don't know how long this great weather will last (after all it is officially still summer) but I am going to enjoy every moment of it.
Hmm. This nice weather has me thinking...I need to stock up on my supplies at home and for the office. At this time of the year I like to enjoy certain thinkgs like a big mug of cocoa or a nice warm bowl of oatmeal.  Guess I will be making a trip to the stores this week.

Welcome September

I really look forward to this time of year.  It means that summer is near it's end.  I have to admit that up until last week, the summer temps have been quite comfortable - in some cases a little cold which didn't bother me a bit.  However I am so over summer and ready for Fall.   Just the other day I saw a flock of geese flying over.   That means soon temps will start getting cooler...nice crisp morning air.  The leaves will perform their closing act...turning their  beautiful reds, oranges, yellows and browns. Dancing through the air as they gently fall from their branches.  It's a beautiful site to see.

To get me ready I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest posting autumn scences, warm/cozy recipes and decor ideas.

Right now I'm participating in the House & Holiday Plan over at Organized Christmas  and during the countdown I plan to include a few fall activities like taking a drive or walk to through a park or back road just to admire the beauty all around (maybe take some pictures), try new as well as old favorite recipes of comfort foods and desserts, plus decorate my little palace in spirit of the season.

Just can't wait to get started.
