Something Smells Good

I'm sitting here at my dining table smelling something oh, so nice.  I think my neighbor is preparing some of her dishes for Thanksgiving.  The smells of sage, celery and onions are dancing around my nose.  Mmmm, yummy.  Oops, my tummy's growling lol.

In 9 days it will be Thanksgiving Day here in the USA.  I have my menu planned and groceries purchased.  This year I'm thinking of adding a new dish to the menu:  Crab Meat Pie.  An old high school classmate shared the recipe on facebook and I can't wait to make it.  I thought I'd make a small one tomorrow just to see if I like it. (It's crab meat-my favorite. Of course I'm going to like it!)

CRAB MEAT PIE
7-1/2 oz crab meat
1 c. finely chopped celery
2 tbsp. grated onion
2 tbsp. chopped green pepper
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. mayonnaise
1/2 c. bread crumbs
1/2 c. shredded Cheddar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Unbaked pie shell
Combine crab meat, celery, salt, onion, green pepper, mayonnaise, lemon juice, eggs and all but 2 tablespoons bread crumbs. Mix lightly. Turn into unbaked pie shell, sprinkle with reserved crumbs and Cheddar cheese. Bake 25 minutes in a 350 oven, or until firm and brown. Should be golden brown and fluff.
Here's where she got the recipe.  She posted picture of hers (she made two) and they look so delicious.

Fun Weekend

This past weekend some friends and I took a nice drive down to Virgina for the annual Norfolk State University homecoming.  We had lots of fun.  When we left Maryland it was cold, dreary and drizzling.  I was a little worried that the rain would ruin the weekend but as we got into Virginia, it was humid - though at night it did  get a bit chilly.

On game day, in honor of breast cancer month the girls and I decided to wear pink t-shirts with our little group name.  We received a lot of compliments.  I didn't get to take many pictures as the battery in my phone wouldn't hold a charge.  I either need to replace the battery or get a new phone.  Here's a couple I was able to get.

I really love these shirts.

There's eight of us (three were not able to make it this year).  These ladies are the best.  Never a dull moment.  We laughed so hard and so much all weekend.  My jaws were so sore from all the laughter.  We're already looking forward to next year.

Now we're in the process of getting some shirts made to support our hometown football team, the Baltimore Ravens.  Cannot wait!

Fall Decorating

Over the weekend I finally got around to putting up my fall decor.  It's not all up however I got the main areas done...the diningroom and front door.

Here's the diningroom:

I wanted to do something different on the table as far as using a table runner.  I'm so tired of the regular cloth runners. At first I was just going to stack three baskets and fill them with pumpkins, gourds, faux leaves and grass but then I thought of the cost of putting that together (maybe next year). Then one day while browing on Pinterest I found an interesting table runner made out of felt, leaf-shape table mats.  It was so pretty and the pinner used mats from my favorite store, Dollar Tree.  Well when I got to Dollar Tree they were all gone.  So I thought, "There goes that idea."

Then this past Saturday I was in a Big Lots that was closing down and found glittered, felt table mats for $1.40 each.   I bought 5 and they look so nice on the table.  The pinner from Pinterest hot glued the ends together, but I decided not to do that in case I want to use them another way next year.

The first photo is the way I originally wanted to lay them out, but after sharing my choices with my girlfriends, it was decided the second photo was the better choice.

Then there's outside my front door,..

Wish my door was a different color.  I thought about adding garland around the door but I think it would be over-kill.  Also I feel like something is missing from the wagon.  Can't quite put my finger on it.

My livingroom is also done but I still have the totes in there as well as a bench that I need to take to the dumpster.  Hopefully by the weeks end I can show you that area.  I still have the bathroom and kitchen to finish then I can post pics of those rooms too.
